Mechanicsburg Street Fair sometime in 2006 (I believe)
Two fun facts about Mechanicsburg!
On New Year’s Eve, the main street fills with the drunken citizens of the town as they countdown to midnight. 10…9…hey! Is that a wrench they’re dropping? Yes, indeed, it is. It’s the second best New Year’s Eve item drop in the area, falling in awesomeness to Dillsburg’s ball of choice: a pickle.
Summer is the time when one associates areas with distinctive smells: the beach has one that escapes me right this second; New York smells like trash. Mechanicsburg tops the disgusting factor of the Big Rotted Apple with its distinct brand of gross. Walk the streets to grab a late afternoon pizza and if you’re lucky you’ll catch a whiff of dog food. Yep, Purina has a factory in the outskirts of town.
